e-ride Industries Inc., a maker of golf cart-like electric vehicles, is testing out the roads overseas with a dealer agreement in Tahiti, French Polynesia.
The move is the first international dealer agreement for Princeton-based e-ride, which manufactures two- and four-passenger electric vehicles. Though most people are familiar with electric golf carts, e-ride's units look more like real cars or small trucks, with enclosed cabins, roadworthy tires and accessories, and speeds of about 25 mph or so.
Moana Roa, a Tahiti-based company that specializes in wind-power technology and other alternative-energy sources, will market the vehicles as an alternative to gas-powered cars.
